Places to Stay in the Berkeley Area
Here's a list (in no particular order) of hotels in the immediate area.
The rates I've listed are
their published rates, but as is the case with most hotels,
you can often negotiate a lower one.
-
The Berkeley City Club
-
Since we do most of our classes at the City Club, this is by far
the most convenient place to stay.
It's close to the University of California.
The rooms are quaint: there are no TVs in the rooms, for example, but
it's a spectacular Julia Morgan building with an indoor pool.
Rooms run $131.50 to $151.50, suites $165.00 to $207.50,
many with Bay views.
-
Hotel Durant
-
Funky, but fun. Right across the street from U. C. Berkeley--right in
the middle of campus life.
An easy walk to the City Club, but about two miles from our offices.
Rooms run from $140 to $160 (AAA rate is $120).
-
Woodfin Suite Hotel
-
Next to the Amtrak station in Emeryville.
A nice new hotel with high-speed internet access in the rooms.
A few miles away, you'll need a car.
Rooms average about $150.
-
Gramma's Rose Garden Inn
-
A cute B&B about half a mile south
of the City Club (three miles from our offices).
Rooms run from $130 to $230.
-
Berkeley Marina Doubletree
-
On the Bay, about three miles away,
next to the Berkeley Marina and Eastshore Park.
You'll need a car.
Rooms range from $120 to $250.
-
Claremont Resort & Spa
-
Swank. Expensive.
Great views from the west-facing rooms, a couple of miles from the site.
(You'll need a car.) Rooms from $270 to $400, suites from $460 to $1060.
Find a longer (but less discriminating) list of hotels is on the
U.C. Berkeley Housing Office site.
