Places to Stay in the Berkeley Area

Here's a list (in no particular order) of hotels in the immediate area. The rates I've listed are their published rates, but as is the case with most hotels, you can often negotiate a lower one.
The Berkeley City Club
We occasionally present our classes at the City Club, so this is by far the most convenient place to stay if your class is at the club. It's a couple miles from our offices, though. The club is close to the University of California. The rooms are quaint: there are no TVs in the rooms, for example, but it's a spectacular 1929 Julia Morgan building with an indoor pool. Many rooms have Bay views.
Hotal Shattuck Plaza
Newly refubished (so it's a bit pricy), but located in downtown Berkeley about a mile from our offices (about a 20 minute walk if you're on foot). The hotel is also within steps of BART, making it easy to get to San Francisco if you don't have a car.
Hotel Durant
Funky, but fun. Right across the street from U. C. Berkeley--right in the middle of campus life. About two miles from our offices.
Berkeley Marina Doubletree
On the Bay, about four miles away, next to the Berkeley Marina and Eastshore Park. You'll need a car, but it's nice to be on the water.
Claremont Resort & Spa
Swank. Expensive. Great views from the west-facing rooms. You'll need a car.

There are also many hotels in Emeryville , a few miles down the highway.

Finally, find a longer (but less discriminating) list of hotels is on the U.C. Berkeley Housing Office site.
